Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra-Connects Marginalized Communities

  • By Prof. Jasim Mohammad

India is a nation of 1.4 billion people, with diverse cultures, languages, religions, and aspirations. It is also a nation that faces many challenges, such as poverty, inequality, illiteracy, health issues, and environmental degradation. How can the government of India address these challenges and ensure the welfare and development of every citizen?

The answer lies in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, a massive outreach initiative launched by the government on November 15, 2023. The yatra, which means journey or pilgrimage, aims to create awareness and monitor the implementation of key central schemes across the nation. It focuses on flagship programs like Ayushman Bharat, Ujjwala Yojana, PM Suraksha Bima, PM SVANidhi, and others, that have transformed the lives of millions of Indians in the last decade.

The Yatra is not just a roadshow or a publicity stunt. It is a sincere effort to connect with the people, especially the vulnerable, the marginalised, and the unreached, and to ensure that they have access to the benefits and opportunities provided by the government. It is also a platform to interact with the beneficiaries, listen to their feedback, and enroll potential beneficiaries of various schemes. The yatra is a manifestation of the government’s resolve to fulfil its promise of Vikas (development), Vishwas (trust), and Viksit (empowered) Bharat.
As the wheels of progress roll across the countryside, they carry with them the hopes and aspirations of millions, binding together the tapestry of India’s rich tapestry of cultures, languages, and traditions. From the misty hills of the North to the sun-kissed shores of the South, and from the bustling streets of the East to the tranquil villages of the West, the Viksit Baharat Sankalp yatra leaves no stone unturned in its quest for unity and development.

The remote hamlets, once forgotten by time, the yatra breathes new life, bringing with it the promise of healthcare, education, and economic opportunities. It is here, in the embrace of the yatra, that the true essence of Bharat Jhodo is revealed – not merely a physical journey, but a soulful quest to unite hearts and minds, to uplift the downtrodden, and to forge a brighter future for generations to come.

The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra aimed at ensuring government schemes reach all deserving people across India. The campaign aims to mobilize citizens to take a pledge for building a developed India by 2047, and to spread awareness about various welfare schemes and initiatives of the government. The yatra was launched from Khunti, Jharkhand, and has reached over 10 crore people in 50 days since its launch. This number is higher than the entire population of some of the major countries like Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Italy and South Africa.

The Yatra has made significant strides in various sectors, such as health, social security, financial inclusion, women empowerment, water supply, sanitation, digitization, and defence. Some of the notable achievements are4567:

Over 1.7 crore Ayushman Cards have been issued and more than 2.2 crore citizens have been screened at the Health Camps during the yatra. Nearly 12 lakh new applications for Ujjwala connections have been received and over 7.5 lakh beneficiaries have availed the benefits of the PM SVANidhi scheme. More than 29,000 Gram Panchayats have achieved complete coverage, with 100% saturation of Ayushman Cards; over 18,000 Gram Panchayats have reached 100% saturation for the ‘Har ghar jal’ scheme; more than 34,000 Gram Panchayats have achieved full digitization of Land Records; and over 9,000 Gram Panchayats meet the criteria for 100% compliance with the ODF Plus model.

About one lakh drones have been demonstrated during the yatra, aiming to increase the number of beneficiaries to two crores under the “NaMo Drone Didi Scheme”.

India has increased its defence production through indigenous means, using India-made Artillery Guns during the 21-gun salute at the Republic Day Parade.

The yatra reflects the vision and leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has ushered in a paradigm shift in governance that has led to inclusive, development-oriented, and corruption-free governance. His motto of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’ resonates with the spirit of the yatra, which seeks to empower every citizen and fulfill the aim of Antyodaya, or ensuring last-mile delivery of schemes and services.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also shown his ability to link India’s cultural heritage and history with its modern and developed future, as well as his political will and courage to strengthen India’s national security and global stature. He has also done away with the VIP culture and the middleman culture, and has prioritised universal health coverage and women’s empowerment.

The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra strives to unite the people of India in their pursuit of progress and welfare. Through this yatra, the government aims to bridge the gaps and disparities that exist among different sections of society, ensuring that the benefits of development reach every citizen. The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra emerges as a true Bharat Jhodo Yatra, as it forges a path towards a more cohesive, equitable, and prosperous India.

As the wheels of progress continue to turn and the echoes of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra resonate across the nation, it becomes abundantly clear that this journey is more than just a political initiative – it is the resilience, determination, and unity of the Indian people. Through the yatra’s tireless efforts to empower the marginalized, uplift the downtrodden, and bridge the gaps that divide us, it embodies the very essence of Bharat Nirman – a journey of unity, progress, and collective upliftment.

In the footsteps of great leaders who have paved the way for India’s development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and leadership shine brightly, guiding the nation towards a brighter future. With each milestone achieved and each life touched, the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra will inspire generations to come and reaffirm our collective commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive, and prosperous India for all.
