REVOLUTIONIZING RAIL TRAVEL: EASTERN RAILWAY INTRODUCES UTS ON MOBILE APP FOR SEAMLESS TICKETING EXPERIENCE

In consonance with the present day buzz word “Time is Precious – Time is Money”, Railways has brought UTS on Mobile App facilitating intending passengers to get their unreserved  journey tickets with a click on their mobile phones. Gone are the days of standing in the long Queues for purchasing journey tickets which often lead to delay in arriving on platform to board the intended train. The UTS On Mobile App appears to be a panacea to get the unreserved journey ticket avoiding Queue at the ticket counters.

Railways has brought the UTS on Mobile Application available for Android, Windows & IOS based smart phones. User can download this application from Google play store, Windows app store and Apple store respectively, free of cost. 

Modus Operandi:

How to book a paperless ticket on UTS app for local trains

STEP 1:Download UTS app
Download and open the UTS application on your smartphone.

STEP 2:Sign up
Sign up/register by entering the required credentials.

STEP 3:Log in
After signing up, login and tap on Book ticket followed by Normal Book.

STEP 4:Click on Book & Travel
Now, click on the Book & Travel tab at the top and click on Continue.

STEP 5:Select the station
Select your station – From and To where you want to travel. Click on proceed.

STEP 6:Enter details
Enter the number of tickets you want to book and enter other details and select Get Fare and after checking once, click on Book Ticket.

STEP 7: Recharge R-Wallet

Now, the money will be deducted from your R-Wallet Thus, you must recharge it. Complete the payment.

STEP 8 :Ticket booked
Tap the Home icon on the top-right and tap Booking History to see the ticket.

The passenger can book paperless Journey Ticket, Season Ticket and Platform Ticket through mobile application and ticket will be delivered in the mobile application itself. The passenger can travel without taking hardcopy of the ticket. Whenever Ticket Checking Staff asks for ticket, the passenger will use ‘Show Ticket’ option in the application.

For popularizing the UTS on Mobile App, Eastern Railway is dedicatedly continuing campaign at different stations, schools & colleges on regular basis. Passengers are being counselled by Eastern Railway staff on regular basis at different stations for making them aware about the modus operandi for UTS on Mobile app and its benefits. Eastern Railway staff also helps the passengers in installing the UTS on Mobile app on their smart phones so that they can use the correct app to get their tickets easily. Local area campaign through Public Address system, mobile phones also continuing to popularize the UTS on Mobile app. In Sealdah Division, the campaign has been conducted at Barasat, Bamangachhi, Habra, Hasnabad, Basirhat, Harua Road, Madhyamgram, Dum Dum Cantt., Birati, Naihati, Ranaghat etc. In Asansol Division the campaign has been conducted at Durgapur, Andal, Asansol stations, in Howrah Division the campaign was conducted at Magra, Barddhaman, Dankuni & Kamarkundu stations. In Malda Division the campaign was conducted at Malda, New Farakka, Bhagalpur & Sultanganj stations & so on. The regular interaction with the passengers by the Eastern Railway staff for awareness building on UTS on Mobile App have resulted in increasing popularity of the App among the passengers. At present, about 10% of the total UTS tickets are being purchased through UTS on Mobile App system.

Currently, the UTS on Mobile service is available at all stations across Eastern Railway (except halt stations). However, Eastern Railway is committed to expanding these services to halt stations, starting with the Sealdah Division.

Eastern Railway remains dedicated to enhancing the travel experience for passengers, and the introduction of the UTS on Mobile App is a testament to Eastern Railway’s ongoing efforts in this regard.
