AMBUSH CHECK ON TICKETLESS PASSENGERS CONDUCTED AT SONARPUR BY ER’S VIGILANCE DEPARTMENT & SEALDAH DIVISION

Kolkata, June 3, 2024

To spread awareness for purchasing journey tickets, which is now easy by using UTS- On-Mobile App as well as to curb ticketless travelling, a special ambush check has been conducted at Sonarpur station today (3.6.2024) by the Vigilance Department of Eastern Railway in association with the divisional team of Sealdah.

During the ambush check at Sonarpur, a total of 206 without ticket passengers were regularised and 42 cases of unbooked luggage were charged. This resulted in realisation of about ₹62,000/- as Railway revenue.

Additionally, 160 passengers were counselled by the Vigilance Department of Eastern Railway on purchasing tickets from UTS counters and through the UTS-On-Mobile App. It may be noted that most of the without ticket passengers were boarded the train from Diamond Harbour, Canning, Hotor, Ghutiarisharif & Sangrampur stations of Sealdah South section.

This step will continue to mobilise passengers to purchase proper ticket and not to pay fine to the Railways.
