Swiggy partners with Kolkata Traffic Police for Road Safety and Traffic Awareness workshop
A road safety roadshow and helmet distribution drive was conducted in Kolkata as part of Swiggy’s Delivering Safely Charter
Kolkata, June 7, 2024 – Swiggy, India’s leading on-demand convenience platform has partnered with the Kolkata Traffic Police to conduct a road safety and traffic awareness workshop for its delivery partners in Kolkata. This initiative is part of Swiggy’s road safety charter, ‘Delivering Safely’.
The workshop held in the presence of Kolkata Traffic Police officials, aimed to educate and train delivery partners regarding road safety and accident prevention practices. Over 70 Swiggy delivery partners participated in the event, receiving training from Prasonjit Chakraborty, Officer Incharge of Tala Traffic School, covering crucial aspects of road safety regulations, traffic rules, applied violations, and penalties. Additionally, there was a helmet distribution session and a roadshow by Swiggy’s delivery partner fleet, demonstrating Swiggy’s commitment to promoting responsible driving practices.
“Under the Delivering Safely charter, Swiggy is committed to the welfare of its delivery partners by conducting regular road safety awareness sessions in collaboration with police authorities. These sessions aim to educate our delivery partners on adhering to road safety regulations and traffic rules and promote safe driving practices.,” said a Swiggy spokesperson.
Swiggy has conducted similar drives in various cities across India, demonstrating its commitment to ensuring a safe working environment for its delivery fleet. All Swiggy delivery partners are provided INR 2 lakhs accidental insurance and OPD insurance cover. Delivery partners are provided with smart gear such as helmets, t-shirts, jackets, raincoats, and bags with reflector strips, which protect them in harsh weather and prevent mishaps by improving visibility.
Last year, in an industry-first initiative, Swiggy partnered with Dial 4242 to provide on-demand, free, and fast ambulance services to its delivery partners. Swiggy also has Emergency Support Services (ESS), which includes 24×7 hotline numbers, emergency cards for delivery partners, and a direct link to local police and ambulance services via an SOS button on the delivery partner app.
The safety and well-being of Swiggy’s delivery partners and the wider community are of utmost importance to the company. All delivery partners undergo a road safety guidance module during onboarding, and the platform conducts safety campaigns offering support and guidance throughout the year.
