NINE MORE ASCRM MACHINES ADDED IN BLUE LINE

Kolkata, Date: 26.06.2024

For the benefit of the commuters, Metro Railway authorities have constantly been taking different initiatives. In order to make ticketing system in Kolkata Metro more user-friendly, ASCRM machines are being installed at different stations. Recently nine more Automatic Smart Card Recharge Machines (ASCRM) have been added at Dakshineswar, Dum Dum, Central, Chandni Chowk, Esplanade, Rabindra Sadan, Jatin Das Park, Kalighat and Kavi Subhash stations with the existing 33 ASCRM’s on the entire stretch of Blue Line. Out of these 9 ASCRM’s, 3 ASCRM’s have been installed at Dakshineswar, Dum Dum and Kalighat on 25.06.2024. At present, total 42 Automatic Smart Card Recharge Machines (ASCRM) equipped with UPI Payment Based Ticketing System have been operational. As a result, commuters now don’t need to tender the exact fare in currency notes and coins at these stations. Instead, they have now been recharging their Smart Cards or buy tokens with the help of this system.

This introduction of the new ticketing system in Kolkata Metro has been a hit among the commuters. As all ASCRM machines of Blue Line now have this facility so more and more commuters are purchasing tokens or recharging their Smart Cards from these machines without any hassle. For example, if a commuter wants to travel to Dum Dum he has to type the first letter of the station i.e. D only on the screen then an auto-pop-up will come on the screen showing all the station’s name starting with D. After that, he/she needs to select the station name on the screen and then the payment page will appear. On the payment page, option of UPI Payment will be displayed and then after selecting the UPI Payment option required payment can be made scanning the QR code with the help of Smart Phone. After this, Token will be issued or Smart Card will be recharged. Metro commuters have been utilising the full benefit of it.

It is to be noted that Metro Railway authorities with the help of State Bank of India and Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) have introduced this Unified Payments Interface (UPI) Based Ticketing System in Blue Line and Green Line.
