LIFTS FOR EASE: SENIOR-FRIENDLY STATIONS NOW A REALITY
Kolkata, June 30, 2024 –
A total of 69 lifts are being implemented across various stations of Eastern Railway, providing seamless mobility and convenience to passengers.
The lift installations are spread across:
- Asansol Division : 9 lifts across 5 stations, benefiting passengers in the Asansol division
- Howrah Division : 19 lifts across 8 stations, enhancing accessibility in the Howrah division
- Malda Division : 27 lifts across 9 stations, improving passenger experience in the Malda division
- Sealdah Division : 14 lifts across 5 stations, boosting accessibility in the Sealdah division
These lift installations aim to provide:
- Improved accessibility for passengers with mobility issues
- Enhanced overall passenger experience
- Increased efficiency in passenger movement
- Better management of crowds during peak hours
- Reduced congestion on staircases and platforms
- Easy access to platforms, concourses, and other areas of the station
