UPI PAYMENT BASED TICKETING SYSTEM INTRODUCED IN ALL STATIONS OF PURPLE LINE
Kolkata, Date: 24.07.2024
After the Orange Line, it’s time for the Purple Line.
UPI Payment Based Ticketing System has now been introduced in all the stations of the Purple Line i.e. from Joka to Majerhat stations. This facility has been made available in the Purple Line from today i.e. 24.07.2024. All the ticket booking counters of each station of the Purple Line from Joka to Majerhat stations are now enabled with UPI Payment Based Ticketing System. As a result, commuters won’t need to tender the exact fare in currency notes and coins to travel on this stretch.
Metro Railway authorities with the help of State Bank of India and Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) have introduced this Unified Payments Interface (UPI) Based Ticketing System.
In order to avail this facility, commuters will have to tell the destination station name and scan the QR Code displayed on the Dual Display Board at the ticket counter and make the payment with the help of any UPI app from their Smart Phones. After receiving the payment, tokens will be issued and commuters will be able to travel with that. Commuters will also be able to purchase and recharge their Smart Cards with the help of this system.
Commuters have welcomed this new move of the Metro Authorities. Passengers’ response about this new UPI Payment Based Ticketing System has been very encouraging today.
