VIGILANCE DEPARTMENT OF EASTERN RAILWAY LAUNCHED AWARENESS CAMPAIGN AGAINST TICKET TOUTS

Kolkata, August 01, 2024

Eastern Railway is marching ahead in a mission mode to eliminate the touting of railway tickets. Touting of Railway tickets is a social evil that creates trouble for the passengers. Intending passengers who fall prey to the touts are being harassed on board for making the journey with the ticket not booked in their name.

The vigilance department of Eastern Railway has launched a massive awareness campaign against the menace of tout activities on the PRS counter. In this connection, Eastern Railway’s Vigilance Department has brought out a poster for display at major PRS units over the jurisdiction of Eastern Railway highlighting the following messages:-

 To buy train tickets always from the Railway Authorized Source or Railway Counters.
 To avoid travelling on tickets booked in the name of another person, often offered by Touts. Travelling on such a ticket is a punishable offence under section 142 of the Indian Railway Act, with a fine up to Rs.500/- or imprisonment up to 3 months or both.
 To stay vigilant and report any illegal ticket selling by touts to the competent authorities.
