METRO TO INTRODUCE NO BOOKING COUNTER STATIONS AT BEHALA BAZAR AND THAKURPUKUR

Kolkata, Date: 12.08.2024

After successful implementation of three “No Booking Counter Station” in Purple and Orange Line, Kolkata Metro is going to introduce two more “No Booking Counter Station” in Purple Line from 15.08.2024 (Thursday). These stations are Behala Bazar and Thakurpukur Metro stations of Purple Line. The average daily passenger count at Behala Bazar Metro station is around 80 while regular passenger count of Thakurpukur Metro station has been around 100 .

As the passenger count has been very low, Metro Railway Authorities have decided to make these two stations as “No Booking Counter Station” from 15.08.2024. In these stations no booking counter will remain open for issuing tokens, new Smart Cards or recharging Smart Cards from that day and no booking staff will be present. Instead, passengers will purchase their tokens, Smart Cards, Paper QR Code Based Tickets from Automatic Smart Card Recharge Machines (ASCRM). They can also recharge their Smart Cards from these machines. For this reason, ASCRM machines have already been installed at these stations. It is to be noted that these user-friendly ASCRM machines are going to enhance the travelling experience in Kolkata Metro. Passengers can also opt for UPI payment based ticketing systems in these ASCRMs.

Kolkata Metro solicits help and co-operation from all the stakeholders to make this a success.
