CHANGE IN VENUE & DATE FOR DURAND CUP SEMIFINAL

Kolkata, August 22, 2024:

The Durand Cup Organising Committee wishes to inform all stakeholders and football enthusiasts about a significant change in the venue and date of one of the semifinal fixtures in the ongoing Durand Cup Football Tournament.

SF-1. Northeast United FC vs Shillong Lajong FC

New Date – Monday, 26 Aug; 5:30 pm

New Venue – JLN Stadium, Shillong

The decision to make this change has been taken in light of the results of the quarterfinal matches held yesterday. Both matches saw thrilling performances from Northeast United FC and Shillong Lajong FC, whose victories have fuelled immense excitement and anticipation among their fan bases. In response to overwhelming requests from supporters of both these teams, and in recognition of the traditional significance of the chosen venue as a stronghold of support for these clubs, we have decided to relocate the semifinal match between Northeast United FC and Shillong Lajong FC to Shillong and reschedule it one day later, i.e. 26 August.

This move is aimed at ensuring that the fans, who are the heart and soul of the tournament, can experience the excitement of this crucial match in an environment that resonates with the deep-rooted football traditions of their teams. We believe this change will enhance the atmosphere and provide the teams with the support they deserve as they battle for a place in the final. All other fixtures remain unchanged.

We deeply appreciate the cooperation of the Department of Sports of Govt of West Bengal in understanding and empathizing with the sentiments of the football fans of the Northeast in general and Meghalaya in specific. We look forward to a thrilling Semifinal that captures the spirit of the Durand Cup. The DCOC also thanks the ardent football fans for their support, understanding & cooperation.
