VIGILANCE AWARENESS CAMPAIGN ORGANIZED AT PARCEL OFFICE IN SEALDAH

The parcel office of Sealdah plays a pivotal role in supporting trade, commerce and personal transactions by efficiently handling parcel traffic. Since Sealdah is the busiest Railway station in Indian Railway network having about 12 to 15 lakh footfall a day, Sealdah Parcel office is handling and managing herculean parcel traffic. After acceptance of parcel, this office is entrusted in sorting, leveling and loading of parcels onto trains. Moreso, it is responsible for facilitating delivery of parcels to the consignees. Managing parcel loading and unloading with train operations are also being done by the office. In a nutshell, parcel office/Sealdah ensure safe custody, distribution and security of parcels under 24/7 surveillance of CCTV cameras.
As a part of three months’ vigilance awareness camp 2024 in Eastern Railway, a seminar regarding vigilance awareness was conducted at Sealdah Parcel office today (11.09.24) under the aegis of Vigilance Department, Eastern Railway. The theme of the awareness campaign was “Culture of Integrity for Nation’s Prosperity”. The objective of the campaign was to promote the values of vigilance and honesty amongst the Railway employees deployed at Parcel office/Sealdah. Senior officials of the department took part in the seminar and counseled the attendees regarding importance of eradication of corruption. They explained, how corruption can weaken the Railway system and at the same time frustrate the interest of Rail users.
The seminar was followed by an interactive session where the employees got an opportunity to discuss vigilance related issues in depth. This campaign is a big stride towards bringing transparency and ensuring accountability in Railway operations. The employees were inspired to perform their duties vigilantly and with utmost honesty. The seminar followed by interactive session was really beneficial and knowledge enriching for the staff working in Parcel office/Sealdah.
