SIGNAL & TELECOM DEPARTMENT COMPLETES KEY WORKS IN SEALDAH DIVISION TO ENHANCE SAFETY, OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY, AND PASSENGER CONVENIENCE

Kolkata, 26th September 2024:

The Signal & Telecom Department of Eastern Railway’s Sealdah Division successfully completed a series of significant works aimed at bolstering safety, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing passenger convenience between 11th to 24th September 2024.

Safety and Operational Efficiency Initiatives:

To improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of train operations, the following key works were undertaken:
Replacement of 10 Point Machines: Critical point machines at crossings across Burrabazar, Prinsep Ghat, Baruipur, Sealdah South, and Barrackpore stations were replaced to ensure seamless and safe train movements.
Installation of Invertors at Level Crossing Gates: Two new 500 VA inverters were installed at the Level Crossing (LC) Gates of Dakshin Barasat and Bhagawangola, ensuring uninterrupted power supply and enhancing safety measures at these crucial locations by eliminating possibility of signal blanking.
Electrical Key Transmitter Upgrades: At the LC Gates of Bira and Bangaon Junction, electrical key transmitter has been replaced to improve signaling reliability.
3-Position Polarized Relay Replacement: A 3-position polarized relay was replaced at Bira, reducing signaling troubles and ensuring a smoother flow of train operations.
High-Definition VDU Installation at Plassey Station: The video display unit (VDU) at Palasy station has been replaced with a new high-definition 55-inch screen, offering enhanced monitoring capabilities of the yard and signaling systems, ultimately contributing to safer and more efficient train handling.

Passenger Convenience:
Installation and Replacement of GPS Clocks: A new GPS clock has been installed at Dhakuria station for the convenience of passengers, ensuring accurate train timings. Additionally, an old GPS clock was replaced at Champahati station to provide improved timekeeping for the benefit of travelers.
These projects demonstrate Eastern Railway’s ongoing commitment to ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable train services while enhancing the overall passenger experience.
