SEALDAH DIVISION STEPS UP OPERATIONAL PRECAUTIONS & SECURITY ARRANGEMENT TO FACILITATE COMMUTERS DURING PUJA DAYS
Kolkata.
Sealdah Division has taken extensive measures to manage the massive crowd during Durga Puja days. For facilitating huge pandal hoppers during Durga Puja festival, Sealdah Division has already decided to operate EMU special trains throughout the night (thereby running suburban trains on 24X7) to cater to the increased demand. Apart from this, additional security personnel are deployed at stations and trains to maintain Law & Order. Moreso, emergency medical services are made available at major stations. Railways will also set up queue management system, crowd control barriers and signages at some places to streamline passenger flow.
In an endeavour to take stock of the Puja preparedness, Shri Deepak Nigam, DRM/Sealdah visited Bidhannagar and Sealdah stations yesterday in presence of concerned Divisional officers. He gave necessary instructions for ensuring smooth dispersal of expected huge pandal hoppers during forthcoming Puja days.
DRM/Sealdah has also directed to deploy more cleaning staff at Sealdah and Bidhannagar stations particularly during the peak hours, i.e., from 5:00 pm to 3:00 am. He has also directed to make available full fledged FIRST AID box at both Sealdah & Bidhannagar with adequate paramedical staff and doctor. He has also advised not to grant any leave for any commercial staff from 6th October to 12th October. More stretchers will also be made available at Bidhannagar and Sealdah stations for helping indisposed visitors in case of exigency, particularly for senior citizens, ladies and Divyangjans. DRM/Sealdah has further directed to deploy more operating staff for facilitating smoother travel for millions of devotees. He had also critically scrutinised the surveillance system at RPF CCTV control room for ensuring full proof security for ladies during night hours.
