ASSAM RIFLES SWIFTLY RESPONDS TO PROVIDE HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE TO PASSENGERS IN ASSAM
On 17 Oct 24, Assam Rifles formations under Spear Corps, swiftly responded to provide humanitarian assistance to passengers of Agartala – Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express, who were stranded due to the derailment of coaches between Lumding and Halflong railway stations in Assam.
Assam Rifles received an emergency call from District administration and Railway authorities for assistance of stranded passengers. Assam Rifles swiftly responded by deploying two teams at Haflong and Dibolong Railway Station.
Medical assistance to stranded passengers was provided at Dibolong Railway Station apart from ensuring security in coordination with Assam Police.
At Haflong, provison of food and water to the stranded passengers aided in alleviating their hardships.
Assam Rifles also ensured that about 150 stranded individuals were dropped at their destinations nearby Haflong and Dibalong Railway station.
The prompt humanitarian response by Assam Rifles ensured that more than 937 passengers, including women, children, and the elderly, received proper medical care and relief.
