CIF and Isha Foundation Announce Postponement of Global Indian Award Gala 2024
Toronto, Canada – (20 Oct 2024) The Canada India Foundation (CIF) and Isha Foundation have jointly decided to postpone the CIF Global Indian Award Gala 2024, originally scheduled for November 7, 2024. This decision was made in light of the current diplomatic situation between Canada and India and underscores both organizations’ commitment to safeguarding the long-term interests of both nations. The gala was set to honour Sadhguru, Founder of Isha Foundation, for his groundbreaking work in creating a Conscious Planet and his global leadership in addressing environmental challenges and elevating human consciousness. The event’s core mission has always been to foster mutual understanding, respect, and collaboration. In keeping with this spirit, CIF and Isha Foundation believe that hosting the event when the atmosphere is more conducive to strengthening ties between the two countries will best serve this purpose. This postponement reflects our shared values of promoting cooperation, unity, and respect on the global stage, particularly during these sensitive times.
Ritesh Malik, Chair of the Canada India Foundation, said: “We are deeply honoured to recognize Sadhguru’s immense contributions and the global impact of his work. However, under the current circumstances, we agree that postponing the event is the most responsible course of action. This will allow us to celebrate this partnership in an atmosphere of goodwill and harmony at a future date.”
Isha Foundation echoed this sentiment, stating: “The message of creating a Conscious Planet transcends borders and politics. It is our hope that when the gala takes place, it will do so in a time marked by strengthened collaboration between Canada and India.” Both organizations remain committed to fostering Canada-India relations through future initiatives and open dialogue. A new date for the gala will be announced in due course.
We thank our members, sponsors, stakeholders, and the broader Indo-Canadian community for their understanding and look forward to celebrating this momentous occasion with renewed energy in the near future.
