INDIAN ARMY ORGANISES A CYCLING EXPEDITION TO HONOUR WALONG HEROES

Indian Army in collaboration with Government of Arunachal Pradesh and North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) organised a cycling expedition from Namsai to Namti which is a part of month long commemoration of 62nd Walong Day. Honble Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Shri Chowna Mein was the chief guest for the flagging off of the Cycling Expedition at Namsai today. The event was attended by Shri Pasang Dorjee Sona, Minister of Tourism Arunachal Pradesh, Mrs Dasunglu Pul, Minister of Women Child Development, Science and senior dignitaries from Indian Army, Indo Tibetan Border Police ; Government of Arunachal , Police Officials, NEEPCO, NCC cadets and local youth of Namsai and Tezu
A total 62 cyclists will cycle their way through the picturesque landscape of the Lohit Valley on the 62nd Anniversary of the Walong Day . The Three day cycling journey starts from the Golden Pagoda at Namsai, riding through Wakro, the holy site of Parshuram Kund, vibrant village of Hayuliang and will finally finish at Namti, also known as the ‘Tigers Mouth , a site of historic significance where troops of the Indian Army stalled the adversaries offensive.
The cyclists comprise enthusiasts from Indian Army including Lady Officers, ITBP, youth and young ladies of Arunachal and two cyclists from Pune.
The expedition will provide an excellent opportunity for all participants to pay homage to our brave soldiers who had made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the nation. During the course of their journey, the cyclists will interact with the locals enroute while enjoying the mesmerising beauty of the Lohit Valley. The Indian Army reiterated its commitment to place Lohit Valley on the tourism map of India and empower local youth to facilitate the necessary infrastructure and skills
