CNMS Suggests to Adding Chapter on PM Narendra Modi to School Curriculum
CNMS wrote Letter to NCERT, CBSE & All States School & Secondary Board of Education
New Delhi – November 6, 2024: The Centre for Narendra Modi Studies (CNMS), Aligarh has proposed including a chapter on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s life, leadership and contributions in the social science curriculum for classes VI through XII in schools across India. In a letter to NCERT, CBSE and state education boards, Centre for Narendra Modi Studies highlighted the potential impact of studying PM Narendra Modi’s journey, which they believe could teach students valuable lessons in resilience, service and leadership.
“Our suggestion is rooted in the belief that understanding the lives of key figures like Prime Minister Narendra Modi can inspire students with real-world examples of dedication and public service,” said CNMS Chairman Prof. Jasim Mohammad. “Similar to how chapters on leaders like Mahatma Gandhi are included, a section on Narendra Modi could give students a deeper understanding of recent Indian history and progress.”
Prof. Jasim Mohammad emphasized that studying Narendra Modi’s initiatives, such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Digital India, Pariksha Pe Charcha and Make in India etc., could help students see the impact of these programs on Indian society. “These initiatives reflect transformative changes and learning about them may encourage students to contribute meaningfully to the nation,” he added.
Since its founding in 2016, CNMS- NaMo Kendra has worked toward nation-building and youth empowerment by organizing conferences, Workshops and seminars that focus on governance, technology and social welfare. Prominent figures, including Governor C P Radhakrisnan, Governor Arif M Khan, Gov Biswabhusan Radhakisnan, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Kiran Bedi, Prof Jagadish Mukhi and others, have contributed to these discussions.
CNMS expressed its readiness to support curriculum developers with well-researched, age-appropriate material for the suggested chapter. “If the boards are open to the idea, we are prepared to contribute to the development of content that presents an inspiring yet balanced portrayal of PM Narendra Modi’s work,” said Prof. Mohammad.
The Centre sees this addition as a way to teach values of patriotism and unity among students, much like the chapters on other significant national figures. “Students who learn about PM Narendra Modi’s journey from modest beginnings to national leadership can see the power of resilience and vision,” noted Prof. Jasim Mohammad.
