National Seminar on Nandi in Indian Mythology and History to be held at IGNCA

Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, through its Conservation and Archives Division, in collaboration with the Save Our Country Foundation, Chennai, to present a Two-Day National Seminar titled ‘Exploring the Essence: Nandi in Indian Mythology and History’. The event will also feature the release of the book ‘Museum and Archives: A Public Space for Education and Research’ on 27th November 2024, at 4:00 pm in the Samvet Auditorium, IGNCA, New Delhi. The inaugural ceremony will include a special Bharatanatyam performance by Ms. Arupa Lahiry, Regional Director, IGNCA RC-Vadodara, themed ‘Dharma & Ananda of Dance: The Dance of Nandi’.
The seminar is scheduled to take place on 28th and 29th November 2024, from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm at the Samvet Auditorium, IGNCA. It seeks to illuminate the multifaceted dimensions of Nandi’s historical existence, cultural relevance, and veneration within Indian traditions. Through an exploration of mythological narratives, historical accounts, and contemporary practices, the seminar aspires to offer a comprehensive perspective on Nandi’s enduring significance in Hindu traditions and history.
Professors, senior scholars, distinguished art historians, and research scholars, including PhD candidates from renowned educational institutions and universities, will be presenting their research papers. This seminar is open to all students and research scholars, offering an enriching opportunity to engage with and appreciate the wealth of knowledge being shared.
