As the hues of spring paint the city in vibrant shades, Sulagna Academy Trust gears up for its much-anticipated annual Basanta Utsav – “Rangiye Diye Jao” (Season 6), an evening dedicated to the celebration of Indian classical and folk dance forms. This year, the event carries a deeper emotional significance as it pays homage to Guru Poushali Mukherjee, the late mentor of Sulagna Bhattacharjee, the founder of Sulagna Academy Trust and a distinguished Odissi dancer.

Scheduled to take place at Howrah, Netaji Sangha club on 8th of March, Saturday, the festival promises an exquisite blend of tradition, artistry, and heartfelt remembrance. Over the years, Rangiye Diye Jao has become a hallmark of Kolkata’s cultural calendar, bringing together eminent artists and their dance troupes from diverse genres of Indian dance, ranging from Odissi, Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Manipuri, Kuchipudi, and Mohiniyattam to vibrant folk and contemporary Indian dance expressions.

“This year’s festival is not just a celebration of spring, but a deeply personal and heartfelt tribute to my Guru, Poushali Mukherjee, whose guidance and teachings have shaped me as an artist and an individual,” said Sulagna Bhattacharjee. “Her passion for Odissi and Indian classical dance will continue to inspire generations, and this evening is our way of honoring her legacy.”

The program will witness performances by some of the finest dancers in the country, each bringing their unique style and storytelling to the stage.
