Karnataka & Goa Dte NCC Hosts Historic Flag Football Debut in Bengaluru

On the occasion of National Sports Day, In a landmark initiative, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) introduced Flag Football, a recently added Olympic discipline, for the very first time in its history. The debut event, titled “Flag Football Debut,” it was organised by 1 Karnataka Battalion NCC, Bangalore ‘A’ Group, Karnataka & Goa Directorate, in association with the Karnataka Flag and American Football Association (KFAFA) at the Air Force Station, Jalahalli.
The event was held in the esteemed presence of Air Cmde SB Arun Kumar, VSM, Deputy Director General, NCC Directorate, Karnataka & Goa.
Highlight of the event was a special exhibition match between NCC cadets and KFAFA’s National and International players. To honour excellence in the sport, trophies and medallions were presented to five Indian players – Sandeep S, Pankaj, Nithin KV, S Shwetha, and Deena BM.
Adding to the learning experience, KFAFA organised a workshop for NCC cadets, aimed at promoting the sport and building enthusiasm among young players. Participation certificates were awarded to all cadets, recognising their involvement and contribution.
The celebrations on 26th August culminated with the historic debut match, followed by a recreational game called “Bulls Eye,” where cadets and officers enthusiastically participated by aiming and throwing the Flag Football at a designated target. This fun-filled activity added joy and excitement to the landmark sporting event.
The event was efficiently coordinated by Lt Col Vijay Fedricks Administrative officer and all ranks and staff of 1 Karnataka Battalion NCC.
This milestone marks a new chapter in NCC’s journey of innovation and inclusivity, blending teamwork, discipline, and global sporting culture.
