Prof. S. Somanath Lauds CNMS Initiatives; Prof. Jasim Mohammad Presents Centre’s Publications and Vision
October 17, 2025: Prof. Jasim Mohammad, Chairman of the Centre for NaMo Studies (CNMS), met Prof. S. Somanath, Former Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), in Aligarh and discussed various aspects of India’s scientific and academic progress.
During the meeting, Prof. Jasim Mohammad briefed Prof. S. Somanath about the vision, objectives, and ongoing initiatives of CNMS, which is dedicated to promoting academic research, policy analysis, and intellectual dialogue on India’s development journey and governance model. He explained how CNMS has been working to bridge the gap between research and national policy through publications, seminars, and collaborations with academic and governmental institutions.
Prof. Jasim Mohammad presented a set of books published by CNMS to Prof. Somanath, showcasing the Centre’s scholarly contributions. He also extended an invitation to Prof. Somanath to become the President of the Governing Council of CNMS, in recognition of his outstanding leadership, scientific vision, and contribution to India’s progress in space technology and innovation.
Prof. Somanath appreciated the initiatives undertaken by CNMS and lauded its efforts in fostering a deeper understanding of India’s developmental and technological evolution. He expressed interest in the Centre’s objectives and encouraged continued work to inspire young minds toward research, innovation, and national service.
Prof. Jasim Mohammad described the meeting as highly meaningful and enriching, stating that Prof. Somanath’s encouragement and perspective added valuable insight to CNMS’s ongoing mission.
However, a student from Our Lady of Fatima School, Aligarh, Alisha Zainab, also presented her compiled and edited book “Pariksha Pe Charcha” to the Former Chairman of ISRO, Prof. S. Somanath, during the meeting. She was accompanied by her sister, Student of OLF, Maryam Haroon, as both expressed their admiration for his remarkable contribution to India’s space achievements.
