IG-CUM-PRINCIPAL CHIEF SECURITY COMMISSIONER, EASTERN RAILWAY, INSPECTS SEALDAH STATION FOLLOWING RECENT HIGH-ALERT SITUATION

Sri Amiya Nandan Sinha, IG-cum-Principal Chief Security Commissioner, Eastern Railway, inspected Sealdah station on 20th November in the wake of the recent high-alert situation arising after the Delhi terror attacks.
Sealdah, being one of the busiest railway stations in the country, has always maintained security as a top priority for the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
In this context, Sri Sinha visited the station and reviewed the existing security arrangements and measures being utilised by the RPF at Sealdah.
He emphasized meticulous monitoring of CCTVs and Facial Recognition System (FRS)–based surveillance, effective functioning of baggage scanners, and staggered movement of inbound and outbound passengers to strengthen overall security. He also instructed that luggage should be scanned discreetly through scanning machines to ensure that the contents of the luggage not be visible to other passengers.
To further augment security, two additional RPSF companies have been deployed at Sealdah station. A strict access-control mechanism is in place to monitor suspicious articles and individuals. He also directed officials to improve lighting arrangements in the station circulating area to enhance CCTV visibility.
The sniffer and explosive detection Dog- Squad has been instructed to be kept ready for utilisation of checking suspicious articles at the station and onboard trains.
Senior RPF officers of Sealdah Division accompanied him during his inspection.
The public is requested to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activity noticed at railway stations to the authorities.
