
Uday Shankar Dance Festival held in Santiniketan on the occasion of Uday Shankar’s 125th birth anniversary
‘Almora’, the two-day Uday Shankar Dance Festival (December 5 and 6, 2025) was held at the Srijani Shilpa Gram in Santiniketan. A total of twenty-two dance groups from different parts of the state participated in this special festival. The event was organized by the West Bengal Dance Group Federation in collaboration with the Eastern Zonal Cultural Center.
To mark the auspicious beginning of the two-day Uday Shankar Dance Festival organized by the West Bengal Dance Group Federation on the 125th birth anniversary of Uday Shankar, a booklet titled “Nrityakalpa” was released on behalf of the federation in august presence of Chandroday Ghosh, Mamata Shankar, Pradipta Niyogi, Jonaki Sarkar, Sushmita Nandi and so on. This year, a total of twenty-two dance groups from various districts of West Bengal participated in the festival.
On the first day, Mamata Shankar Dance Company, Shilpa Bitan, Dikshayan, Sangeet Nritya Kalakendra, Sahapur Suchichandam, Bankura Prometheus, Shuchana were participating.
On the second day, Dancers Guild, Nad-Brahma, Kalapi, Ghungur, Alor Pakhi Center for Performing Arts, Bankura Angik, Balagarh Payal Nritya Kala Kendra, Swastika Kala Kendra and many other prominent dance groups. Dance organizations from various districts.
Mamata Shankar said, “Even today, I am getting to know her in new and new ways. This knowledge is not for the faint of heart. This dance binds everyone in a single thread. It purifies our minds, helps us become better people, and provides inspiration.”
