DAD Volleyball Tournament Opens in Bengaluru with Drone‑Hoisted Flags

The 8th All India Defence Accounts Department (DAD) Volleyball Tournament was inaugurated today at the Airforce Station Jalahalli , Bengaluru, under the aegis of the Defence Accounts Sports Control Board (DASCB). The event, hosted by the Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (PCDA), Bangalore, will see 21 teams from across the country competing over three days.
For the first time in DAD history, the ceremonial flag hoisting was carried out using drones, symbolising the Department’s embrace of modern technology. The initiative, supported by MEG & Centre, ASC Centre, BEL, and cleared by HQ Training Command IAF, set a new benchmark for future events.
Chief Guest Shri A. N. Das, IDAS, Additional CGDA, in his inaugural address, praised the organisers for their professionalism and innovation. He emphasised that “discipline, teamwork and integrity are the values that sports in still, and these are essential for an organisation as vast and mission‑oriented as ours.” He urged participants to uphold fairness and true sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
Welcoming the gathering, Shri Pramod Kumar, IDAS, PCDA Bangalore, highlighted the tournament’s role in fostering unity and holistic well‑being among personnel. He noted “ this tournament showcases not only athletic excellence but also the Department’s unwavering commitment to nurturing team spirit, discipline, and camaraderie among its personnel.”
The inaugural programme featured:
- A cultural performance by students of Sarvodaya National Public School
- A disciplined display by NCC Cadets of 8 Karnataka Battalion
- An energising performance by the Army Band from MEG & Centre
- Honouring of retired IDAS officers for their contributions
- Torch relay by national and international players to light the ceremonial Mashaal
The tournament, running from 10th to 12th December 2025, promises spirited competition, inspiring performances, and memorable displays of skill and teamwork. Declaring the championship open, Shri Das concluded with a resounding call: “Jai Hind.”
