INDIAN COAST GUARD CONDUCTS REGIONAL LEVEL POLLUTION RESPONSE EXERCISE (Re-PREX-25)

A Regional Level Pollution Response Exercise was conducted by Coast Guard Regional Headquarters (North East) at Paradip on 16-17 Dec 2025 with collectives participation of local stakeholders and resource agencies of Odisha, Customs, Fisheries Department Odisha, Paradip Municipality, Odisha State Pollution Control Board and State Administration.
Indian Coast Guard is Central Coordinating Authority for combating oil spills in Indian waters & undertakes oil spill response and control. A Paper Exercise was conducted on 16 Dec 2025, which productively indulged all stakeholders and clarified their roles and required action during an oil spill incident. During Sea exercise off Paradip on 17 Dec 25, Indian Coast Guard and stakeholders assets demonstrated near real time scenario of Oil spill from a merchant ship at sea.
Post Oil Spill response simulation at sea a Shoreline Cleanup demonstration was conducted at Paradip Beach by Indian Coast Guard in co-ordination with State administration and Paradip Municipality. The demonstration showcased large scale beach cleanup operations and coordinated actions to protect the coastline in the event of spilled oil reaching the shores.
