RPF/ER ARRESTS FOUR TOPB OFFENDERS UNDER “MISSION YATRI SURAKSHA”
Kolkata, January 06, 2026:
In a significant step towards strengthening passenger safety and security, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Eastern Railway, under its focused initiative “Mission Yatri Suraksha”, has successfully apprehended four offenders involved in Theft of Passengers’ Belongings (TOPB) at Sealdah and Howrah railway stations.
On January 5, 2026, RPF personnel of Sealdah and Howrah Divisions arrested four TOPB offenders and recovered four stolen mobile phones valued at approximately ₹1,16,000 during targeted surveillance and preventive checks at the stations.
Out of the four arrests, two TOPB offenders, along with four seized mobile phones, were handed over to GRPS/Sealdah, where a case has been registered against them under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for further legal action. The remaining two offenders were handed over to GRPS/Howrah, where they were linked to previously registered cases under BNS.
The Railway Protection Force remains committed to ensuring a safe and secure travel environment for passengers and continues to intensify vigilance and enforcement measures against criminal activities across railway premises.
