Indian Army Rescues Drowning Person from River Brahmaputra at Guwahati on 14 January 2026
Demonstrating swift response and exemplary professionalism, soldiers of the Indian Army successfully rescued a drowning individual from the River Brahmaputra near Saraighat Bridge, Guwahati, on 14 January 2026 at around 1600 hrs.
Personnel of the 236 Inland Water Transport Unit, who were on routine duty with their marine crafts heard distress calls from beneath the Saraighat Bridge.
Reacting immediately, the soldiers deployed a safety boat and rescued the drowning individual from the river.
The rescue operation was carried out by Nb Sub Ali Mohammad, Hav Subhash Chandra, Hav Magan Singh and Nk Rajender Singh, whose alertness and quick action helped save a precious life.
The rescued individual was promptly administered first aid on board the safety boat. After ensuring the safety, the individual was handed over to the local police authorities of Pandu Police Station for further action.
