AIR MSHL DEVENDRA P HIRANI ASSUMES APPOINTMENT OF SENIOR AIR STAFF OFFICER (SASO), HQ EASTERN AIR COMMAND

Air Marshal Devendra P Hirani assumed the appointment of Senior Air Staff Officer (SASO) at Eastern Air Command of Indian Air Force on 01 February 2026. Air Marshal Hirani was commissioned in IAF on 15 December 1990. He is a Qualified Flying Instructor with approximately 5000 hours of flying experience on various types of helicopters & trainer aircraft. The officer is an alumnus of NDA, Defence Services Staff College, College of Defence Management and National Defence College, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Besides commanding a training Unit, prime frontline Bases in Northern Sector, the Air Marshal has also held Staff appointments in HQ IDS, Air HQ, Command HQs and HQ AOC (JK&L). He has also been a DASI inspector. The officer was on deputation to Democratic Republic of Congo as part of UN Peace Keeping Mission. Air Marshal Hirani was Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Personnel, Airmen & Civilians) prior to assuming the present assignment.
In recognition of his distinguished service, Air Marshal Hirani was awarded with Vishisht Seva Medal in 2015 and Yudh Seva Medal in 2022.
