Special calendar released on Sholay’s 50th anniversary, Sidhu-Pota duo in the roles of Jai and Veeru

The 1975 blockbuster film “Sholay” by Ramesh Sippy, an impeccable screenplay by Salim-Javed duo, created a milestone in Indian cinema. This film created a stir across the country. This film is special in many ways.

The “Sholay 50” a special calendar was released under the initiative of The Dreamers Music PR Agency, presented by Serum Group. The surprise was at its release ceremony. The two lead vocalists from the Bengali rock band  Cactuss Sidhu and Pota were present as Jai-Veeru to release the special calendar.

Bengali rock band Cactuss has also crossed thirty years of its journey. On this day, Sidhu-Pota sang the iconic song “Yeh Dosti” on a sidecar-waala bike., while Aritra Mukherjee accompanied them on the guitar. Later, in a freewheeling discussion, both Sidhu-Pota walked down the memory lane and spoke about their love for Sholay. The session was curated by noted presenter Debashis Bose.The Chairman of Serum Group, Sanjib Acharya, who was present, said, “Sholay still has a fondness for all of us.Serum Group has always been a patron of healthy taste of good  cultural initiatives.” Sidhu-Pota said, “It is very happy moment and nice that we have been thought of in this special event in the role of Jai-Veeru in this way.” Sudipta Chanda the man behind the initiative said about the main idea of this calendar, “Every year, The Dreamers publishes a calendar with some theme. This year’s calendar has interesting pictures related to the film Sholay on every page. Advertisements published in newspapers at that time of the film, film ticket, record cover, various moments during the making, various scenes in front of the crowded hall when the film was running, powder case featuring Sholay emblem, matchbox, film posters, booklet, lobby cards and many more. All in all, this calendar is worth collecting.”
