Heritage Institute of Technology Celebrates International Women’s Day with the Spirit of “Give to Gain”

Heritage Institute of Technology celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 with great enthusiasm through a special programme organized by the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC-HITK) in association with IQAC-HITK. The event was centred around the theme “Give to Gain”, highlighting the spirit of empowerment, contribution, and collective growth.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing knowledge and inspiration. The highlight of the event was an invited talk by Prof. (Dr.) Suparna Datta, the first lady forensic medicine expert of West Bengal, who shared insightful perspectives on the evolving role of women in professional and societal spheres.
The celebration featured a series of cultural and intellectual segments reflecting creativity and empowerment. Prof. Amrita Banerjee from the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering presented a graceful dance performance, followed by a powerful recitation of “Still I Rise” by Prof. Chandrima Roy of the same department.
A special moment of the programme was the felicitation of women facility staff members of the institute, acknowledging their dedication and invaluable contributions to the institution. The audience was further enthralled by a soulful Rabindra Sangeet performance by Prof. Moumita Pramanik from the Department of Mathematics.
The event also included an inspiring talk by Ms. Suchismita Saha, an alumna of the institute and entrepreneur from Eureka Builders, who shared her journey and encouraged young women to pursue innovation and leadership. Another engaging segment was a thoughtful speech titled “নারী দিবস কি শুধু নারীদের?” delivered by Prof. Srabanti Basu, Head of the Department of Biotechnology, which encouraged reflection on the collective responsibility of society in ensuring gender equality.
The programme concluded with a closing song by Prof. Moumita Pramanik, leaving the audience with a message of unity, empowerment, and collective progress.
The celebration highlighted the achievements, strengths, and contributions of women and reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and empowering academic environment.
