WORLD KIDNEY DAY OBSERVED IN TAPAN SINHA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL

Medical Department of Metro Railway, Kolkata, observed World Kidney Day today, i.e., on 12.03.2026 (Thursday) at Tapan Sinha Memorial Hospital. The theme of this year’s World Kidney Day was “Kidney Health for All.”
An awareness seminar was organised to mark the occasion. Dr. A. K. Prasad, ACMS (H&FW), highlighted the risk factors associated with kidney diseases like physical inactivity, diabetes, dyslipidaemia, hypertension, tobacco use, high sodium intake, obesity, and unhealthy lifestyle practices. He also suggested a few simple steps to maintain healthy kidneys, such as adopting good food habits, engaging in regular physical exercise, avoiding smoking, reducing obesity, and effectively managing blood pressure and diabetes.
Dr. Gopa Majumder, PCMO, in her speech stressed the importance of spreading awareness and adopting preventive measures for better kidney health.
Around 40 railway beneficiaries attended the programme and got useful inputs for maintaining good kidney health from the awareness session.
