Rangakarmee staged it’s first ever play in English Eeraa – A Woman’s Search for Mirra Alfassa
Rangakarmee’s first English-language production, EERAA – A Woman’s Search for Mirra Alfassa, premiered yesterday at the Rangakarmee Studio Theatre, leaving audiences deeply moved.
Following the success of his META Award–winning production Chandaa Bedni, director Anirudh Sarkar presented EERAA as a bold artistic shift, embracing stillness, silence and minimalism. His direction shaped the performance into an immersive, meditative experience where pauses carried as much weight as words.
Inspired by the life and philosophy of Mirra Alfassa, the production unfolded as an inward journey, exploring memory, identity and the search for peace in a restless world.
The performance was led by Ranjini Ghosh, whose restrained presence aligned seamlessly with the director’s vision, adding quiet emotional depth to the piece.
Audiences described the experience as “peace in chaos,” responding strongly to its minimal staging and reflective tone. With EERAA, Rangakarmee reaffirmed its evolving, introspective theatrical voice.
