GM Inaugurates Modernised Infrastructure Facilities at Noapara Metro Carshed
Kolkata, May 27, 2026:
Metro Railway Kolkata achieved another milestone in infrastructure modernisation as Shri Subhransu S. Mishra, General Manager, Metro Railway, inaugurated several upgraded operational and maintenance facilities at the Noapara Metro Depot Complex on Tuesday.
Among the newly inaugurated facilities are an advanced Lifting Bay and an Electronic Interlocking (EI) Simulator, both aimed at strengthening the efficiency, reliability and safety of Metro Railway operations. The upgraded lifting infrastructure is expected to significantly enhance rake maintenance activities at the Noapara Carshed, ensuring smoother and more dependable Metro services for commuters.
The newly introduced EI Simulator will provide practical, hands-on training to operational staff associated with day-to-day Metro train services. Officials said the simulator will help employees improve their technical expertise and operational preparedness through modernised training methods.
On the occasion, Shri Mishra also laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art Metro Railway Training Academy and a new Inspection-cum-Lifting Shed at Noapara. He expressed optimism that these upcoming facilities would further modernise Metro Railway Kolkata and help the organisation keep pace with evolving technological and operational requirements.
Adding an artistic touch to the event, the General Manager unveiled two unique sculptures created from industrial scrap materials under the “Scrap to Art” initiative at Noapara Depot, reflecting Metro Railway’s commitment towards sustainability and creative reuse of industrial waste.
