Indian Army’s Gajraj Corps Hosts “Sonitpur SAMVAD” to Boost Civil-Military Cooperation

The Indian Army’s Gajraj Corps successfully organised a Military-Civil Fusion Seminar titled “Sonitpur SAMVAD” in Tezpur, Assam, with the objective of strengthening civil-military cooperation and promoting collaborative nation-building under the vision of “Samoohik Prayas Se Rashtranirman” and the guiding principle of “Rashtra Sarvopari.”
The acronym SAMVAD reflects the initiative’s core values — Samanvay, Aatmanirbharta, Mansik Dridhta, Vishwas aur Vikas — Amritkaal ka Lakshya, Dhyeya Sarvopari. The programme focused on enhancing coordination between the armed forces, civil administration, educational institutions, healthcare organisations and other important stakeholders for regional development and national resilience.
The seminar witnessed the participation of several senior officials and dignitaries from across Assam. Prominent attendees included the Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University, Inspector General of Sashastra Seema Bal, Inspector General of Sonitpur Range, Divisional Forest Officer, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Chairman of the Bar Council and Municipality, representatives from Tezpur’s medical fraternity and private hospitals, Principal of the Skill Development Centre Mangaldoi, Additional Deputy Commissioners of Tezpur and Missamari, along with several other stakeholders from government and civil society.
Addressing the gathering, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Gajraj Corps highlighted the importance of JAI — Jointness, Aatmanirbharta and Innovation — as the roadmap for building a secure, resilient and future-ready India aligned with the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. The GOC emphasised the need for coordinated institutional efforts, convergence of capabilities and timely execution of developmental initiatives to strengthen regional stability and national progress.
In a major step towards enhancing civil-military healthcare cooperation, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health and Army hospitals under Gajraj Corps. The partnership aims to strengthen holistic mental healthcare through clinical collaboration, professional training, research initiatives and community outreach programmes.
The initiative marks a significant advancement in fostering integrated development, institutional coordination and collective nation-building efforts, while also highlighting the growing importance of mental well-being and community resilience in modern India.
