Indian Army Rescues 11 People, Including Five Children, in Flood-Hit Rajouri
Swift Joint Operation by Army, Police, SDRF and Civil Administration Prevents Tragedy Amid Flash Floods

Rajouri, July 19: Demonstrating exceptional courage and humanitarian commitment, the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps successfully rescued 11 civilians, including five children, from flood-ravaged areas of Rajouri district in Jammu & Kashmir after incessant rainfall triggered flash floods and dangerously swollen streams.
The rescue missions were carried out in close coordination with the Jammu & Kashmir Police, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the district civil administration, ensuring that all stranded civilians were brought to safety without any loss of life.
Rapid Response Saves Families Trapped by Flash Floods
The first rescue operation was launched after authorities received information that nine civilians, including five children, had become stranded across a flooded mountain stream near Churung village, south of Thanamandi.
Braving powerful water currents and adverse weather conditions, Indian Army personnel swiftly reached the location and safely evacuated all those trapped by the rapidly rising waters. The timely intervention prevented what could have turned into a major tragedy.
Engineer Regiment Rescues Two Youths from River Island
In another rescue mission conducted simultaneously, soldiers from an Engineer Regiment rescued two youths, aged between 17 and 20 years, who had become stranded on a river island in the swollen Naushera Tawi River near Dhangri, around 12 kilometres from Rajouri town.
Despite the strong current and difficult terrain, the Army rescue team successfully reached the isolated island and brought both young men to safety. They were later reunited with their families in the presence of officials from the district administration.
Seamless Coordination Ensures Successful Operations
Officials said the success of both rescue operations was made possible through close coordination among the Indian Army, Jammu & Kashmir Police, SDRF and the local civil administration. The joint effort enabled rescue teams to respond quickly to multiple emergency situations despite challenging weather conditions.
The operations also highlighted the importance of inter-agency coordination during natural disasters, where timely decision-making and rapid deployment of rescue teams play a critical role in saving lives.
