Metro Railway to Start Early Blue and Green Line Services for Combined Medical Services Examination on August 2

Kolkata, August 1, 2026: In a special arrangement to facilitate candidates appearing for the Combined Medical Services Examination (CMS), 2026, Metro Railway, Kolkata has announced revised Metro schedules on Sunday, August 2, 2026, with early morning services on the Blue Line and Green Line.
To ensure smooth transportation for examinees, Metro services on both corridors will commence from 07:00 hrs, two hours earlier than the usual Sunday schedule. Trains on these two lines will operate at 30-minute intervals between 07:00 hrs and 09:00 hrs. From 09:00 hrs onwards, regular Sunday Metro services will resume on both the Blue Line and Green Line.
Blue Line: Early Services Introduced
The following first Metro services have been scheduled:
- 07:00 hrs: Dakshineshwar to Shahid Khudiram (instead of 09:00 hrs)
- 07:00 hrs: Mahanayak Uttam Kumar to Dakshineshwar (instead of 09:00 hrs)
- 07:00 hrs: Shahid Khudiram to Dakshineshwar (instead of 09:00 hrs)
- 07:05 hrs: Dum Dum to Shahid Khudiram (instead of 09:05 hrs)
Green Line: Early Operations
The Green Line will also begin operations earlier with the following services:
- 07:00 hrs: Howrah Maidan to Salt Lake Sector V (instead of 09:00 hrs)
- 07:02 hrs: Salt Lake Sector V to Howrah Maidan (instead of 09:02 hrs)
Metro Railway has confirmed that the timings of the last Metro services on both the Blue Line and Green Line will remain unchanged.
Yellow Line Schedule
On the Yellow Line, normal Sunday services will continue. However, the first direct Metro service from Jai Hind Bimanbandar to Dakshineshwar will depart at 12:42 hrs instead of 10:36 hrs.
Orange and Purple Lines
No Metro services will operate on the Orange Line and Purple Line on Sunday, August 2, 2026, as these corridors remain closed on Sundays.
Metro Railway has requested commuters, particularly candidates appearing for the Combined Medical Services Examination, 2026, to take note of the revised schedule and plan their journeys accordingly.
