U.S. Congratulates India on Independence Day, Reaffirms Stronger Strategic Partnership

New Delhi, August 15, 2026: The United States has extended warm greetings to the people of India on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening the longstanding partnership between the two nations.
In a press statement issued on August 14, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio conveyed congratulations on behalf of the United States and highlighted the growing momentum in U.S.-India relations.
Rubio said that the relationship between the two countries continues to expand, citing the close personal relationship between U.S. President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as an important factor behind the partnership’s continued growth.
The U.S. Secretary of State pointed to a broadening areas of cooperation, including defence, energy security, critical minerals, artificial intelligence, space cooperation and commerce. According to the statement, these areas of collaboration are contributing to greater security, economic strength and prosperity for both countries as well as the wider Indian Ocean region.
Rubio also emphasized the deep bonds of friendship and family connecting the American and Indian peoples, describing these ties as the foundation of a partnership that is innovative, resilient and forward-looking.
The United States, he said, looks forward to working with India to build a shared future based on expanding cooperation and mutual prosperity.
The Independence Day message comes as India and the United States continue to deepen engagement across strategic, technological, economic and security sectors, reflecting the growing importance of the bilateral relationship in the Indo-Pacific and Indian Ocean region.
