WOMEN RPF EMERGES VICTORIOUS IN INTER DEPARTMENT WOMEN’S CRICKET TOURNAMENT FINAL

Eastern Railway is always striving hard to empower women in the field of sports. In this endeavor, the Sealdah Divisional Sports Association’s Women’s Cricket Tournament culminated in a thrilling final match, with the RPF team clinching the championship trophy after defeating the Carriage & Wagon team on 16.02.2024. The exciting event, held in Sports ground, DRM office Sealdah, showcased the talent and determination of female employees of Sealdah Division. A total of 13 no. of cricket teams from various departments participated in the tournament.
The tournament, organized by the Sealdah Divisional Sports Association, witnessed enthusiastic participation from various departmental teams across the division. After a series of closely contested matches, the RPF and Carriage & Wagon teams emerged as the finalists, setting the stage for a nail-biting finale.
In the final match, both teams displayed remarkable skill and sportsmanship. The RPF team, however, managed to edge out their opponents, clinching victory with a well-coordinated batting, bowling, and fielding performance. The jubilant RPF players were presented with the championship trophy, amidst cheers and applause from the audience.
The Women’s Cricket Tournament organized by the Sealdah Divisional Sports Association has served as a valuable platform for promoting women’s cricket, the first time in the Eastern Railway under the leadership of Sri Akshat Malik under the guidance of Sri Deepak Nigam Divisional Railway Manager, Sealdah. The success of the tournament highlights the growing interest and talent in the sport and paves the way for future events that empower and encourage female employees.
