DR. SUGANDHA RAHA, DIRECTOR GENERAL, RAILWAY HEALTH SERVICES INSPECTS B.R. SINGH HOSPITAL

Dr. Sugandha Raha, the Director General of Railway Health Services (DGRHS), led a thorough inspection of B R Singh Hospital, Eastern Railway, on February 17, 2024. The inspection aimed to elevate patient care and service standards throughout the hospital.

- Enhanced Information Management: Dr. Raha stressed the importance of fully implementing Hospital Management Information Systems (HMIS) and proposed the renovation of OPDs for the Railway Employees’ Liberalized Health Scheme (RELHS) to improve consultation facilities.
- Streamlined Patient Triage: The Triage and Casualty departments were scrutinized to ensure the seamless implementation of HMIS for efficient patient tracking from admission to discharge.
- Focused Medical Interactions: Dr. Raha personally engaged with patients in the Nephrology ward, demonstrating her dedication to understanding and addressing patient needs.
- Utilization of Technology: Recommendations were made for the use of video-conferencing for medical consultations in the Intensive Care Units (ITU & SICU), along with a focus on securely maintaining medical records.
- Advancements in Medical Equipment: The inauguration of the Duodeno-Videoscope in OT 4 highlighted the importance of dedicated waiting areas for patients’ families to enhance communication and comfort.
- Optimizing Neonatal Care: Dr. Raha inaugurated the New Labour Room in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), emphasizing the hospital’s commitment to advanced newborn care.
- Improved Pediatric Facilities: The renovated Children’s Ward and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) were inaugurated to bolster the hospital’s capacity for pediatric patient care.
- Ensuring Cardiac Care Excellence: Inspections of the Cardiology Ward, Cardiothoracic Vascular Surgery (CTVS), and Cath Lab were conducted to uphold the highest standards of cardiac care.
