
EASTERN COMMAND TO HOST “EAST TECH 2024’’
Thursday, 10 Oct 2024 – The Eastern Command of the Indian Army will host the Defence weapons and equipment exhibition “East Tech 2024’’ at the Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan, Kolkata on 05 and 06 Nov 2024. It is an initiative to identify cutting-edge technologies needed for overcoming the operational challenges in the Eastern Sector and the Indian Army as a whole.
The aim of the event is to facilitate Eastern Command in meeting its operational challenges by incorporating Contemporary Indigenous Technology.
In the true spirit of “Atmanirbhar Bharat”, the event strives to engage large number of Indian Manufacturers including Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs), Research and Development (R&D) Organisation and Academia, to showcase their latest and the most advanced weapon & equipment technology at the event. It is also an initiative to promote and provide a platform to various Start-Ups and major players of the Defence Industry to showcase the latest development in the Defence sector.
The two-day exhibition cum demonstration event is being conducted in West Bengal co-opting the expertise and services of Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM). The main objective of the East Tech is to augment technological knowledge base of participants and acquaint them with prevalent “State of the Art” technologies and Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) solutions available for Defence sector. It is with an underlying aim to create awareness of contemporary technologies and hardware solutions available with Indian Defence Manufacturers under “Raksha Atmanirbharta”, to meet ever evolving operational dynamics of Eastern Command with indigenous, innovative and future proof technologies.
The Eastern Command with its Headquarters at Kolkata, is the oldest and Largest Command of the Indian Army spanning around 10 states and has its troops deployed along the borders with its neighbours. The event will help identify suitable technologies & solutions customised to meet operational requirements of all the three elements of Indian Armed Forces and Para Military Forces, with a view to create an effective eco-system for swift procurement and effective maintenance of the selected Defence products. The event will help identify suitable technologies and products for subsequent trial and induction in Eastern Command, as also facilitate interface of Defence manufactures with the Field Army to orient their products and further Research and Development (R & D) as per the specific operational requirements.
