COAST GUARD (ODISHA) HOSTS SPECIALIZED TRAINING FOR NARCOTICS CONTROL BUREAU AND DRUG LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES
The Coast Guard Headquarters Odisha at Paradip conducted a specialized training program on Maritime Interception for personnel from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and other Drug Law Enforcement Agencies (DLEAs) from 20-22 Jan 25 at Paradip, Odisha. The training was aimed at strengthening maritime interdiction capabilities.
The training program was focused on equipping participants with the knowledge and skills essential for combating drug trafficking in the maritime domain. With an alarming rise in the transnational smuggling of narcotics through sea routes, the program reaffirmed ICG’s commitment to protect India’s maritime borders from illicit activities. The training sessions covered critical areas of Operational/ Safety Awareness, Law Enforcement Practices, Search and Seizure Techniques, Collaboration and Coordination, Simulation Exercises etc. Addressing the participants, Dy Inspector General Sanjay Negi, Commander, Coast Guard (Odisha), emphasized the need for a unified approach to tackle the challenges of maritime narcotics trafficking. The training is indicative of Indian Coast Guard’s proactive efforts to enhance co-ordination amongst agencies, which is crucial for effectively addressing the threats posed by drug trafficking.
Senior officials from the NCB and DLEAs commended the comprehensive training program and appreciated the skills honed, which would contribute towards enhancement of operational readiness and effectiveness.
The Indian Coast Guard remains steadfast in its mission to combat maritime crimes and ensuring safety and security of India’s Maritime Zones. Through such collaborative efforts, the ICG continues to foster a robust framework for enforcing laws at sea.
