CLEVELAND, April 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — The Sherwin-Williams Company (NYSE: SHW) announced that Michael H. Thaman was elected to the Board of Directors of Sherwin-Williams at the Company’s annual meeting of shareholders today. Mr. Thaman was appointed to the Compensation and Management Development Committee of the Board.

Mr. Thaman, 53, currently serves as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Owens Corning, a Toledo, Ohio based world leader in composite solutions and building materials systems and a market-leading innovator of glass fiber technology. Mr. Thaman joined Owens Corning’s Board of Directors in 2002.

Mr. Thaman has held a variety of senior leadership positions over the course of his career with Owens Corning. He has served as President and Chief Executive Officer since 2007 and Chairman since 2002.  In addition to his current roles, Mr. Thaman served as Chief Financial Officer from 2000 to 2007, President of Exterior Systems from 1999 to 2000 and President of Engineered Pipe Solutions from 1997 to 1998.

He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Kohler Company, a private manufacturing company, and previously served as a member of the Board of Directors of NextEra Energy, Inc., a public company and clean energy leader in North America.
