
ARREST OF TOPB OFFENDERS UNDER “MISSION YATRI SURAKSHA”
Kolkata, January 31, 2026:
As part of the ongoing drive under “Mission Yatri Suraksha” to enhance passenger safety and curb crimes against rail users, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Sealdah, Asansol, and Malda Divisions of Eastern Railway apprehended seven (07) Theft of Passenger Belongings (TOPB) offenders on 30.01.2026 from Sealdah, Asansol, Jasidih, and Bhagalpur Railway Stations.
During these coordinated operations, seven (07) stolen mobile phones and liquid cash amounting to Rs. 4,000/- were recovered. The total value of the recovered property is Rs. 1,22,000/-. All the arrested offenders were handed over to the concerned Government Railway Police (GRP)/local police stations for further legal action, and cases were registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Details of the arrests are as follows:
- Sealdah Railway Station: Three (03) TOPB offenders were arrested with the recovery of two (02) stolen mobile phones valued at Rs. 45,000/-. They were handed over to GRPS/Sealdah.
- Bhagalpur Railway Station: Two (02) TOPB offenders were arrested with the recovery of two (02) stolen mobile phones valued at Rs. 45,000/-. They were handed over to GRPS/Bhagalpur.
- Asansol Yard: One (01) TOPB offender was arrested with the recovery of two (02) stolen mobile phones valued at Rs. 12,000/-. The offender was handed over to the local police station, Asansol North.
- Jasidih Railway Station: One (01) TOPB offender was arrested with the recovery of one bag containing clothes, one mobile phone valued at Rs. 16,000/-, and liquid cash of Rs. 4,000/-, with total recovered property valued at Rs. 20,000/-. The offender was handed over to GRPS/Jasidih.
