Rajnath Singh Releases Commemorative Book on Operation Sindoor Featuring First-Hand Military Accounts
New Delhi, May 29: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has unveiled a commemorative volume dedicated to Operation Sindoor, bringing together the personal experiences of 100 officers, sailors, airmen, and soldiers who participated in the landmark military campaign.
Released on May 29, 2026, the publication serves as a tribute to the personnel who executed the operation and offers a rare glimpse into the realities of modern warfare through the eyes of those directly involved. In a message shared on social media, the Defence Minister described the book as a testament to the courage, dedication, and resilience of India’s armed forces.
Shri Rajnath Singh noted that Operation Sindoor marked an unprecedented military success, stating that India was able to compel Pakistan to seek a ceasefire within just four days. He emphasized that the operation differed significantly from previous conflicts and highlighted the importance of documenting the experiences of those who served on the front lines.
According to the Defence Minister, the publication goes beyond a conventional historical record by capturing the human dimension of warfare. Through personal narratives, the book illustrates how leadership, courage, quick decision-making under pressure, and unwavering commitment transformed military strategy into operational success.
Unlike traditional military histories that often focus on high-level decision-making and command structures, the volume sheds light on the experiences of personnel operating in combat environments. It includes accounts from soldiers stationed along the Line of Control, air defence operators tasked with tracking and neutralising hostile drones, fighter pilots involved in precision strikes, and naval personnel maintaining combat readiness at sea.
The collection features contributions from all three branches of the armed forces, as well as personnel from the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff. The testimonies come from combat aviators, naval watchkeepers, missile crews, special forces operators, communications specialists, logisticians, medical officers, and members of various joint-service organisations that supported the operation.
The book was formally released during a ceremonial event in New Delhi attended by Anil Chauhan, Dinesh K Tripathi, Upendra Dwivedi, and A. P. Singh.
The commemorative volume was compiled under the guidance of the Chief of Defence Staff. Personal accounts were sourced through the Additional Directorate General of Strategic Communication, the Media and Public Information Cell, and the Directorate of Media and Public Relations. Publication support was provided by the United Service Institution of India.
The publication stands as a lasting record of Operation Sindoor, preserving the voices of the servicemen and women whose efforts shaped one of India’s most significant recent military operations.
