# Railways Invite Entries for Lal Bahadur Shastri Technical Original Writing Award Scheme–2025

**New Delhi, July 23, 2026:** The Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) has invited entries for the **Lal Bahadur Shastri Technical Original Writing Award Scheme – 2025**, an initiative aimed at encouraging original technical writing in Hindi on railway-related subjects. The award scheme is open to serving and retired railway employees as well as all citizens of India.
The initiative seeks to promote the creation of high-quality original literature on railway operations and management while fostering the use of Hindi in technical and professional writing.
## Cash Awards for Outstanding Original Works
The Ministry of Railways will recognise the best original books submitted under the scheme with the following cash prizes:
* **First Prize:** ₹20,000
* **Second Prize:** ₹10,000
* **Third Prize:** ₹7,000
The awards will be conferred on books selected by the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board).
## Emphasis on Originality
The Ministry has laid down strict originality guidelines for the competition.
Only **original works authored by the applicant** will be considered. Adapted, translated, edited or copied material, including content downloaded or reproduced from the internet, will not be accepted for evaluation.
Authors of the selected books will continue to retain the **copyright** of their works.
## Publication Period
For the **2025 award cycle**, eligible books must have been **written or published between 1 January 2023 and 31 December 2025**.
## Eligibility Criteria
The Ministry has specified the following conditions for participation:
* The book must relate specifically to **railway operations** or **railway management**.
* It should contain **at least 100 pages**.
* The font size should **not exceed 12 points**.
* Books that have already received awards from the **Government of India**, any **State Government** or **Union Territory Administration** are **not eligible**.
* Books previously submitted under this award scheme **cannot be resubmitted**.
## Final Decision of the Ministry
The Ministry of Railways has clarified that the decision of the **Railway Board** regarding the selection of award-winning books will be **final and binding**.
## Submission Process
Interested authors are required to submit:
* **Two printed or typewritten copies** of their book or manuscript.
* The **prescribed information form**.
* A **signed declaration form**.

## Last Date for Submission
The **last date for submission of entries is 31 August 2026**.
