Indus Valley World School & MC Kejriwal Vidyapeeth Hosts International Press Freedom Day

Kolkata, 3rd May, 2017:

Press the fourth pillar of democracy and it must be free from any biased or pressure for expression. Free press is birth right for all democratic people of the world. Students are the future of any country so as for India. This year two schools from Kolkata took the initiative for a open forum to debate on the very core of the issue called Freedom of Press.

Indus Valley World School and MC Kejriwal Vidyapeeth, today hosted a talk show on the importance of freedom of press to mark International Press Freedom Day with students from both the schools sharing their insights on the subject. Mr. Soumyojit Mahapatra, Chairman, Public Relations Society of India, Kolkata Chapter, addressed the gathering on the day of the event with his welcome speech on Freedom of Press.

“We are extremely delighted to celebrate International Press Freedom Day today at the Press Club, Kolkata. Our students were very excited about participating in the event. They had been practising since we planned the event. The session was thorough and enlightening”, said Mr Neelkanth Gupta, Principal, MC Kejriwal Vidyapeeth.

“Freedom of Press is a subject of utmost importance, however the students of this generation are brought up in the lap of press utilities, which makes them efficient in sharing their views. Our initiative is a small step to show our gratitude to the millions of men and women working in the profession”, said Ms Anita George, Principal, Indus Valley World School.

Freedom of Press plays an important role in shaping a society and the world in the larger sense. There were 4 students from MC Kejriwal Vidyapeeth and 3 students from Indus Valley World School who participated in the insightful session on Freedom of Press. Many students from the respective institutions were present to encourage their fellow schoolmates.
