Scribe murdered in Saharanpur,  JFA demands stringent punishment

T Navajyoti, Guwahati :  Journalists’ Forum Assam (JFA) expressed shock at the murder of journalist Ashish Dhiman along with his brother at Madhonagar locality of Saharanpur in  Uttar Pradesh on morning hours of Sunday (18 August 2019).

Local media reports suggest that both Ashish (26) and his younger brother Ashutosh were shot dead by assailants in their residence. Neighbors took the injured brothers to a nearby hospital, but attending doctors declared them brought dead.

Ashish used to work as a photo-journalist for  Hindi newspaper Dainik Jagaran  and left behind his pregnant wife and ailing mother. “We urge UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath to investigate the matter and punish the guilty under the law. Moreover, the bereaved family
should be adequately compensated,” said a statement issued by JFA president Rupam Barua and secretary Nava Thakuria.
