Bengal PHE department steps up to provide drinking water to drought prone areas
The state Public Health Engineering department (PHE) is chalking out a plan to provide drinking water in drought prone and arsenic hit areas at an estimated cost of Rs 2,500 crore.
The PHE has also been preparing a plan to supply filtered water in arsenic-hit areas. It may be mentioned that the department has taken a Rs 8,000 crore plan to provide drinking water in the rural areas in the state. All the water supply projects are likely to be commissioned by 2018.
Under the ADB project, water supply project will be set up for Bankura district on a priority basis. Fourteen blocks in the district are getting water under the Backward Region Grant Fund (BRGF). The remaining four blocks would be covered under the project.

রাজ্যের খরাপ্রবণ ও আর্সেনিক আক্রান্ত এলাকাগুলিতে পানীয় জল সরবরাহের জন্য ২,৫০০ কোটি টাকা ব্যয়ের পরিকল্পনা নিয়েছে রাজ্য জনস্বাস্থ্য কারিগরি বিভাগ।
জনস্বাস্থ্য কারিগরি বিভাগ আর্সেনিক কবলিত এলাকায় পরিশোধিত পানীয় জল সরবরাহ করার পরিকল্পনা গ্রহণ করেছে। উল্লেখ করা যেতে পারে যে দপ্তর রাজ্যের গ্রামাঞ্চলে পানীয় জল সরবরাহের জন্য ৮০০০ কোটি টাকা প্রদান করার পরিকল্পনা গ্রহণ করেছে। সব পানীয় জল সরবরাহ প্রকল্প ২০১৮ দ্সালের মধ্যে অনুমোদন পেয়ে যাবে।
এডিবি প্রকল্পের আওতায় অগ্রাধিকার অনুযায়ী বাঁকুড়া জেলায় পানীয় জল সরবরাহ প্রকল্প চালু করা হবে। BRGF (Backward Region Grant Fund)এর অধীনে ১৪টি ব্লক পানীয় জল পাচ্ছে। বাকি ৪টি ব্লককেও এই প্রকল্পের অধীনে আনা হবে।
