The Annual Art Exhibition of the works of students from the Department of Kalyani University. Eminent actor Sri Chiranjeet Chakrabarti has been inaugurated the Exhibition on Friday at North Gallery, Academy of Fine Arts. In the presence of The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, University of Kalyani Prof. (Dr). Sankar Kumar Ghosh and Ritendra Roy Head of the Department VISUAL ARTS and others guests.
The practice and the business of art are centered on significant ideas, topics and themes ranging from mundane to uncanny, psychoanalytical to political within the various strata of socio-economic situations. An art institution is not immune from the changing social context of cultural attitudes which it is surrounded by.
A student may reflect upon the demands of influences, and design visual codes to form a new entity. For the provision of this context the institution helps for the aspiration and the will to shape and change for the would-be-entrants into the field of art practice. The formulation of problems within the academic curriculum gives ample scope to find ways for visual restructuring, which are the purpose of the exercises that are undertaken.
The Department of Visual Arts at the University of Kalyani has endeavoured to identify the flexibility of their responses, resourcefulness and ingenuity in the face of difficulties that the students face in the contemporary times. Hence the freedom of intention is expressed through speculation, analysis and subversion of conventions. The disposition of artworks in this Annual Exhibition of the students from the post-graduate level of the Department provides an opportunity for the viewers to assess the approach of the plurality of expressions.
The Exhibition will be on view till 24 August at 3-8 PM daily.
