Manjusha makes massive profits online
The State Government’s policy of upholding Bengal’s heritage through online forums has paid rich dividends for the handloom outlet, Manjusha too.
In 2016, Manjusha ventured online, and sold goods worth Rs 21 lakh. This year, the online sales have rose massively to Rs 56 crore. Compare to this, the counter sales have been Rs 1.35 crore. Thus the idea of taking Manjusha online has paid rich dividends.
With help from the Bengal Government, including Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee taking an active interest, Manjusha saw the face of profit for the first time during financial year (FY) 2015-16 (since coming into being in 1976), when it made a profit of Rs 1.99 lakh. This rose significantly to Rs 3.39 lakh during 2016-17.
Manjusha’s success has not gone unnoticed by industry bodies too. Just before the Pujas, it won the India Retail Forum’s Images Retail Award in the category of ‘Most Turnaround Story’. Manjusha won the award by beating more than 100 big enterprises, including some of the top brands of India.
